MUSIC AND ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION
DALCROZE MEETS ECOLITERACY
Dalcroze is an approach to music education that uses movement, sensory experience, and social interactions in an experiential and holistic pedagogy. My research explores links between Dalcroze and ecoliteracy, notably in their shared desire to cultivate the head, heart, hand and spirit.
My practice draws on these links and is applied through performance and education work.
I am keen to continue developing links with forest schools to bring Dalcroze values and practices into new multidisciplinary settings, nurturing awareness, value, group work and social skills, and developing one's own connection to the more-than-human world through the body and music.
