MUSIC AND ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION

Dalcroze is an approach to music education that uses movement, sensory experience, and social interactions in an experiential and holistic pedagogy.  My research explores links between Dalcroze and ecoliteracy, and I'm interested in how both seek to cultivate the head, heart, hand and spirit. When we live 'in' our whole bodies, we live in reciprocal connection.

My practice draws on these links and is applied through performance and education work.

I am keen to develop links with forest schools and outdoor settings to bring Dalcroze values and practices into new multidisciplinary settings, nurturing awareness, value, group work and social skills, and developing one's own connection to the more-than-human world through the body and music.
